My mum in Seaham Harbour says the same - "it just never snows like it used to."
I don't know if you were around for the winter of 1961, Kenny, but I still have mental images of snow piled higher than the back door (3 steps up from the back yard) and I had to get through it to bring in coal from the coalhouse.

I was too young to remember. My dad said it was '63. He said there was one stretch of road between Fishburn and Coxhoe deeper than a double decker bus. 80 was my worst then we seemed to have nothing since.
