Nick it sure does shine i can see me with it as well but i always keep thinking of the safety of a filter as i have used them for years as a safety. i can see the benefits of the lens they outshine most by a mile. i the end i am sure image quality will be the deciding factor and due care will take care of the rest. thanks steve

steve111 I understand your concerns about protection Steve but I've never used anything other than the lens cap when the lens is not in use ~ I am not a fan of filters! All the best mate and have a good weekend ~ nick
