Thanks very much Anupam! He's a quite vigilent Dad. So funny: he was at about this same spot chasing a goose away from the nest again today, a year later.

That is an impressive shot! And body looks goose like. Dang I just came from a lecture, at the College, on local birds - I could have asked.

If there was more than one they could be An eyrar of swans. So is singular simply "A swan"? Suppose it could be if a dam in Eygypt.

WOWWOW Kamalyn,
another great swan picture of yours! Wonderful reflections and detail. Actually also a good document showing the aerodynamics of swan landing.
No wonder it has got so many views and Y*s including now also mine.
Best wishes, Timo

Ahhh, Tery - alas he isn't a singlular swan. The wife was back at the nest hatching cygnets as he was chasing evil geese away. It's pretty amusing how much swans dislike geese. But this one is different from the average swan. This is One-eyed Jack, who survived a run-in with a giant snapping turtle but lost his left eye in the process. The damage from the battle has left a bulging growth there that you can perhaps make out if you view this full size. At least the shadow cast by the scar tissue is visible here. It's interesting that he's still done well for years, and it makes it easier to keep track of which swan pair is which!

A VERY belated Thanks, Timo! Photography sure does allow us to see things that are just a blur to the naked eye. The counterpart of the landing here is this shot of a different swan taking off - even more interesting!

Hi Kamalyn,
thanks for the link. I guess you have spent quite some time around this pond. Based on the quality of the photos I think, however, it has been time well spent.
Wishing you a Happy New Year 2012, Timo
