These roofs were added as a safety precaution. Torrential rain flooded the then flat roofs, unfortunately one roof gave way under the weight and in doing so, killed a resident. Eventually the council took heed to what the residents were saying (for a long time) so built these magnificant roofs. A bit late, eh ? Typical.
