I waited ages for a car to come along and two arrived together! It is one of my favourite roads but you have to watch out for sheep making sudden decisions.

Thanks

Keith

Keith, that's near the road I passed, when I went to Allendale - maybe it was the same - but this one has at least a stripe in the middle, the roads where I pass, usually haven't. I recently discovered your photo on Goggle Earth with this "frightful" bend on road 686. ;) and another one with the chimneys. I have a similar one. I wish I had a photo finder. I still have many photos to upload from this region of last year. I am so happy to see your photos from the North of England. If I come to this region, I'll have to visit Muggleswick just for its name. :) I'd love to go to so many places in your lovely country. Best wishes, May

Hi May. The roads around and across the Durham Moors can look very similar. The Allendale road is also one I like to ride along. The A686 from Hexham to Penrith via Alston was recently voted one of the best drives in the world and I ride it whenever the opportunity presents itself.

I like the look of some of your roads in Switzerland (maybe one day I will try them).

Thank you for your lovely and interesting post and I look forward to viewing (eventually) you photos from last year and the new ones to come.

Regards

Keith

Keith, for this summer it won't be the North of England. I have booked for 2 weeks Ireland last night, first I'll stay a week with my daughter's family (2 grandchildren) in Lancashire.

You will love our roads across the 27 mountaineous passes with hundreds of hairpin curves. Some of them you can see on my 'Travel-Swiss-08' tag and there will be many more photos. Or just look at those Swiss mountain passages on Google Earth.

Best regards, May
