Hi Peter, your new series of canals is great! This one is my favourite because of the beautiful reflections! I really like it a lot! Greetings, Anne

Thank you Anne,

One of the few benefits of living in the Industrial Midlands of England, besides the people, is the legacy of the once busy Canals. Did you know that in Birmingham we boast of having more canals than Venice! With the present concern for conservation they have become havens for wild life, even in the heart of the cities.

One of the Canals, the Ashby Canal, is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest because of the flora. I have a few pictures here and here

This is a closer view of the Wild Iris, but the sun was so bright that day that they seemed to reflecting it!

At the end of the walk we came back to the canal and saw this enormous Mallard and also what appeared to be a lovely hybrid Tuffted Duck.

Best Wishes Peter
