Born here, left for Guam, Hawaii and eventually the mainland where I now reside. Like many Micronesians, I left as a young man searching for a quality education abroad. Through this beautiful photo, I can see a lot has changed. Most evident is the impact of global warming on many low lying atolls such as Polowat. These coconut trees used to sit inland further from the water. Now they are almost submerged undersea.
