For this photo I climbed up on a small crate I'd brought with me for just this purpose. Since my stepladder did not fit in the trunk of the car!

:) Thank you Ippa! As it turned out, only a small boost in height made a big difference, and I didn't really need a whole ladder.

Daffodils at a tulip festival: they are at the wrong party. But no one cares, because they are dressed beautifully!

Nawitka, on May 11, 2009, said:

Hi Norrel, yes they were certainly the best dressed around ... I think I love daffodils most of all. If you zoom out on the map you can see these mountains about 50 miles EAST of my location.

This must be a very late variety because the other daffodil fields were finished blooming at this time. If I am reading the map from the Washington Bulb Company correctly, I think this is the late season variety "Standard Value".

I agree on that, Nawitka, I prefer daffodils to tulips. They grow a lot better in my shady garden.

Ah, Nawitka! I must confess I had always guessed you to be quite a short person - perhaps 4 feet and 10 inches.

Thanks for that purdey! I had only ever heard the Rocky and Bullwinkle excerpt and never actually read it myself! Thanks, I enjoyed it very much. Wiki says the poem is taught school but I guess we never got to that one. Best greetings to you!

No standard value here, Nawitka, this is full value for sure.

Hi Nawitka. love the photo, I too love daffodils. I didn't find the Wordsworth poen in the link but I will keep looking. i am reading a book on poetry as we speak and find I can understand it much better than i ever could at school. I really don't think young children appreciate poetry much. glad that you like it purdey

Cal I amost missed the poem too -- it is in a yellow box on the right hand side of the Wiki page :) I think it is good to try to wedge the odd poem into their feather-lined brains. Later on they can make sense of it.

Yes, N!W I really got my money's worth out of that bunch of daffodils :)
