The Google Earth Bollard ;)

This bollard, located on the jetty at Skinningrove, was used to moor large iron ships that once traded from this small industrial harbour in the early part of the last century.

As you can see, the hexagon nuts that once held it secure to the jetty have been removed, no doubt a failed attempt to lift the bollard for use elsewhere. The bolts are so heavily corroded that it would not be possible to extract it without the use of an oxy-acetylene burning torch!

I am amazed that this photo has received thousands of views :)
