This is the famous crossroads in Cast Away movie. No traffic for almost 2 hours.

I have looked for this place on google earth for almost a year. I had no idea that it was south of Canadian. I guess I was going by the movie script too literal. Thanks for posting these pics.

Yes, this is a pretty out of the way place to visit. Ranch Road 1268 and intersects with Ranch Road 48. If you go north on that dirt road behind the car in the picture about 3-4 miles, you will find the Arrington Ranch guest house, which was the scene where Tom Hanks took the package and delivered it behind the screen door. Looks pretty much like the movie, without the sculptures.

I could be wrong, but isn't the place actually to the east of here? She mentions that the road is 83 and I think u can read that on one of the signs in the scene. Plus the s-shaped dirt road isn't there in the film.

This is in fact the location. I'm an engineer for a power company and in the movie you can see a shadow of a 69KV power line on the south side. Also, if you look at the single phase powerline on the east side of the caliche road, it matches up structurally with the line in the movie. And yes, if you drive north about 5.6 miles you'll find the Arrington Ranch. At the crossroads, the traffic signs were removed/replaced for the movie which is why you don't see them in the shot.

Actually, the final scene encompassed two intersections. Look at the final scene carefully and you will see that the intersection of the beginning of the scene and the intersection at the end do not match. Look especially at the median lines. I would like to locate the last intersection where Chuck Nolan stands in the middle deciding which direction to go.

Um sonho distante...uma imagem perfeita!

It's kind of tricky, but at the end of the movie is the same crossroads. First, the unpaved road is going north, the route 1268 is going West-East. At the beginning of the movie the FedEx truck is coming from East. At the end, the lady is going North, Chuck then going to the middle of the crossroads. He then see South, then he turns to West, then he turns North where the lady is going to the ranch.

Thanks catbus. I am going to visit the site this Spring from NC on my way to Vegas. That movie was an inspiration. I am glad you found the crossroad.

You're welcome papasmithnc. You can stay at the ranch, inside there is a lot of castaway stuff from the movie, also the ranch is a lodge house, and is 5 miles away north from the crossroads.

Thanks Catbus for the info on the Ranch House. I have come to this website again to confirm the location as part of my preparation for my road trip this Spring. The Ranch House sounds like a great place to spend some time.
