Ivan pl. Zajc was a prolific Croatian composer, conductor, director and teacher who for over forty years dominated Croatia's musical culture.
Oh yes, in the background on the right side there is "Palazzo Modello" building. It was built in 1885 on the site of the former Adamić Theatre, which had been pulled down. The edifice was built according to the project of the Vienna studio of Fellner and Helmer as the Rijeka Bank and Savings Building. The building's style is that of High Historicism, combined with splendid decorative elements taken from High Renaissance and Late Baroque. The plastic decorations are the work of the sculptor Ignazio Donegani. Fellner and Helmer succeeded in bringing the architecture of the Vienna Ring to Rijeka and making the "Modello " Building a building equal in beauty to the those of Vienna.
