The sixth in a series of 8 photos (see below) taken on the River Dour Cleaning Day, Thursday, 21 May 2009.

A group shot (with Mandy Whall second from the left) as the volunteers began making their way up to Cherry Tree Avenue. The Barton Path is one of my favourite stretches of the urban River Dour and I for one am appreciative of what these people are doing. From the Conservation Events Page of The White Cliffs Countryside Project:

"The White Cliffs Countryside Volunteers meet 3-4 times a week to carry out practical projects to conserve wildlife and improve footpaths. The Volunteers are a friendly group of local people and new members are welcome at any time. Membership is free and you are not obliged to come out on a regular basis; just to events that interest you. We provide an experienced leader, training, tools, gloves and refreshments."

There's a search box thingy at the bottom left of the Conservation Events Page: just pick the Events Date(s) option to see what the current schedule is.
