Ian Stehbens ~~ On the front page of your gallery above your photos is a link that says something like new panoramio contest every month bla bla bla ~ hit the link scroll down the page a touch and then there are blue links inviting you to visit entries in each of the four categories ~ it will drive you nuts ~ there are so many entries to look at, but it can also be fun if you have nothing better to do and it was deathly quiet at work today!!
If you need more help don't hesitate to ask ~ ciao nick
First thanks for the information, Nick. This must be a recent additional feature to the contest, for I don't believe it was there in the early days. It is an improvement but unless it is deathly quiet at work, I am not sure how one finds the commitment to persist, especially as there are so many images that are less than average. Secondly, thanks for your generous and often humorous contribution to the network. I just wish I could keep up with all the uploads as well as trying to keep up with acknowledgements. You are appreciated for your interactionsas well as your often splendid images.
What you see in the photo is fog rather than smoke. It was a pure clean morning and that was part of the joy. We didn't stay long here, it is true, for I was also keen to get down on the flats among the fog, which you will have seen I did from the other coloured images in this set.
Thanks very much for the vote and "favourites" I hope you enjoy this image every time you see it again.
In the fog, Marilyn, it was more a case of breath-making.
I truly wasn't sure at the time that others would like them as much as I did. I even had to ask Margaret whether she thought they were quality art or just pics of fog. So it has been my joy when you and others have praised them. It was a special morning, for which I am grateful.
I am very pleased that this image has appealed to such a range of people.
I did indeed need the tripod, Ulli, for there wasn't a lot of light and I needed a 300mm lens. Having grown up here, and leaving as I became an adult, it is a place rich in powerful memories, Billy as you will well imagine. And it is the place in which most of my life dreams were imagined. So to be up that early, with Mother and my Wife as company, it was a lovely venture together. We were awake, but we may as well have been dreaming.
In indigenous Australia culture, "Dreaming" is the term that is used for the meta-story of life's beginnings. So in that sense this is the place of my personal "Dreaming". Thanks osman kurt.
It is good to know of your appreciation of this image, especially when I see your first uploaded photo taken in Green OH. I agree about the timing, and I certainly enjoyed the moment.

Voted and favorites. I guess you have had just a few minuts for the shot, after that all the smoke in the air would have gone... Greeting from Brazil!
