Tulla was sieged in the middle ages, every drumlin has a fort in the area and Tulla was a monastery. Knockadoon named after fort (Chnoc an Dún). The Old Forge estate in middle distance is named after the forge on which it waw built. A commemorative plaque tells the history on the entrance to the estate. The Churchyard is part of the ruined parish church which together with a few monuments within 100m of each other form a definale landscape type "Ritual and Devotional" in the Clare Landscape Character Assessment. The fields are Enclosed Land 2, the commonest Clare HLC-type and Sui Finn is open Rough Ground 1. Note how quickly our eye takes the whole scene in and we assimilate the combined character at a glance.
