Another view of this particularly heavy thunderstorm that struck last night.
In the lower right corner, the tower of the New Church of Delft (where members of the Dutch royal family are buried) is visible - it's the second tallest church tower in the Netherlands.
This picture made it to an online photo gallery of de Volkskrant, one of the largest national newspapers in the Netherlands.
Ik had het al gezegd op Flickr.. maar een supershot Justin!
Dank je Tjarko, voor de tweede keer ;)
Congrats Justin. Both for the great capture and for getting it published. Well done my friend. :)
Best regards, Tom
Thanks Tom! I was very pleased with this result, and of course with seeing it published too!
What an achievement, Justin. It must have been some storm to allow you to record a lightning strike and to have the newspapers tell the story. I am impressed... and also by the composition that goes with it.
Sorry Ian for the late reply... Yes, this was quite a storm; the heaviest thunderstorm in the last 5 or 10 years. I think the met office recorded about 75,000 lightning strikes in one single night. Considering it doesn't happen often here, that's a lot!
Thanks for your kind words, as always.
Great shot, wonderful ilumination and stunning lightning. Very good composition, i like the tower lights at right background
