Dear Mr. Tarnas

We would like to ask your permission to use your photos in a project we are undertaking for the Permanent Joint Technical Commission (PJCT) on the Kunene River Basin. We are developing something called a River Awareness Kit (RAK) for the Commission, which is intended to provide a central hub for information and knowledge sharing on the Kunene River basin. The RAK aims to enable: access to information, capacity building, and environmental awareness amongst basin stakeholders (in schools, government, institutions etc). The project is funded by the German international development bank BMZ, and is implemented through their technical agency GTZ. The finished product is not sold, but rather provided free of charge.

Some of your photos would add a great deal to certain elements of the RAK and we would like to include them "as-is" within the text-based learning materials and also as part of interactive learning tools. Every image we use would be supported by full acknowledgments. If you are in agreement with our use of your resources, we would be very grateful and I will send you a list of the images we have identified.

Many thanks in advance and best regards,

Patrick Bracken
