Flash flood on Soda Butte Creek. Yellowstone National Park.

Surprisingly, this flash flood on Soda Butte Creek happened in mid-summer 1988, the year of the great Yellowstone forest fires that burned half the Park and much of the surrounding country. The common perception was that there was no rain that summer.

That was not quite true!
