PALAT –PALAS

In 1784 un puternic incendiu si-a intins flacarile asupra vechii curti domnesti, distrugand-o.

PALACE-PALAS

In the place where was built later the Palace of Culture, is Princely Court of Iasi, which has been the capital of Moldova. On the land around imposing Palace of Culture in Iasi, found built on old royal palace, was built before 1434, Princely Court. In its long existence (the first half of sec. XV until the end of sec. XIX), the Royal Court in Iasi, became in the second half of the XVI century , residence of Princes of Moldavia , has its history closely tied to the history of the city and the country. In 1784 a great fire and the flames extended to the former princely courts, destroying it. Like watching the fire, the Prince of those times , Mavrocordat Alexander, said Fire-Prince , will move in several rows. First, live to the Metropolitan seat, which shortly after moving take fire , then the Galata Monastery, whose houses in the yard were burned, and in the end to reach the so-called "Court of Sararie" (House Mavrocordat). The Old Court is abandoned and rebuilt in 1806 under another form. Prince Alexander Moruzi, came a second time at the seat of Moldova (1802-1803), order restoring them. Construction of the new Princely Court , larger and more grandiose, lasted until 1806 , when it was inaugurated with great fast. But not long after, in 1827, the new Court and Palace is turned into ruins by another fire. It will be restored after 13 years. In the new palace on 5 January 1859 was chosen as Prince of Moldova Alexandru Ioan Cuza , who unified two of the three main Romanian provinces . Devastated by two another fires, the palace was demolished, and in this place was built between 1906-1926, an imposing building, which today is the Palace of Culture , valuable art museums.
