Looking north across the second pontoon in Dover's eight acre Wellington Dock towards Snargate Street at the base of the Western Heights cliffs.

The rectangular structure of the lower entrance to the Napoleonic Grand Shaft is behind the tall brown mast on the left.

On the far left on top of the cliffs are the horizontal embrasures of St Martin's Battery.

The photo of the 'White Yacht' was also taken at this location.

Wellington Dock is named after Arthur Wellesley, the first Duke of Wellington, who was Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports from 1829 until 1852. Click the "Wellington" tag for more images.
