This is another photograph that reminds of Marilyn W for some reason Ian. I think I've said that to you before. It could be the overall feeling of gentle decay - not of Marilyn* you understand, but of the photos she has posted in her gallery.

Greetings, Amelia

Indeed, Amelia. I am sure you understand that when we are creating our photographs these days, there are often silent conversations with our distant friends who have either inspired the moment or may enjoy the particular subject. I assure you that while you are with me on the beach, Marilyn is beside me when I am recording and enjoying rural decadence. The vertical silo is also very American, and she has corresponding images to this one.

This one was taken on the morning of your "The Day the Sky Fell into the Water" day. They have had big floods in this area more recently.

Morning greetings, my friend.

Ian, your photos are better and better, you should print a picture album, I'll buy one for sure :-)

Beautiful shot.

Cheers, Jeff

Thanks very much, Jeff. I am pleased that you are enjoying the diversity in my album, from rally cars to broken down farm buildings.

Your praise is very generous, Rafal, but I don't think I would make a living from printing my photos. But I do enjoy using them in publications related to my work.

Yes indeed, John, and it is still a working and profitable whole milk farm.

I'm slow, Ian, because spent considerable time helping a friend get a book manuscript ready for the printer (there were serious problems with the previous copyediting!), and then I tagged along when Hugh went to Quebec City for a water resources meeting. And you've been wonderfully productive while I've been on line so little.

I'm very glad I was with you in thought when you took this, but how much better to shared this sight in person! Very well done, Ian--I like it very much just as you knew I would.

Ian Stehbens on June 13, 2009

Sharp, sensitive, affirming, generous, thoughtful, competent, patient, reflective... and many more adjectives apply Marilyn but not slow!! :))

And you know you are welcome anytime, and the sharing will be in person together, every photoshoot!

While you have been travelling I have too, for this image was taken during an intentional meander from Sydney to Brisbane to relocate one of our cars prior to our move to Brisbane. And tomorrow we leave for 6 months in Tonga. We will spend the next 3 July-Dec semesters there so you can plan on fulfilling that intention of visiting Tonga, and the nation will welcome you and Susanna with open arms.
