Taken from the roadside near Lough Bray Lower, this view of the main buildings that now house the Glencree Centre for Reconciliation, summarizes the summer in Ireland for me: emerald greens, decorated with gorse, old church buildings that have had multiple uses over their history, and at its heart a commitment to reconciliation and peace.

Glad to hear you enjoyed Ireland. Here's one to remind you of your visit to Glencree. I have mapped it correctly now so you might not have noticed it before.

Dear Rafal,

When you visit Wicklow, make sure you call in at this Centre for Peace and Reconciliation at Glencree, and learn about their programs. They provide wonderful accommodation here as well, at very affordable rates. The nearby Youth Hostel, a stopping place on the Wicklow Way is a bit inadequate even for hikers.

For nature lovers, it is so convenient, so hospitable, and you can contribute to their wonderful efforts to build sustainable peace. There are peat diggings nearby, waterfalls, lakes, forests, moors, layers of history, and high quality scenery. And not far away are some excellent pubs, as well as all that Dublin itself has to offer.

Book your stay on line: one night will not be enough!
