North American Raccoon (Procyon lotor) in White Oak (Quercus alba) ... © All Rights Reserved

I like the view up this tree, even without the raccoon there so as soon as I saw him heading up, I ran and got the camera.

This raccoon isn't afraid of me anymore but a person walking up the gravel road spooked him just enough for this handy photo-op. I'd been trying to frighten him up the tree earlier and he just wouldn't go!

The raccoon wasn't actually staring at me. He was looking toward the road where a person was ambling up our way and I had a hard time getting him to look at me long enough to snap the photo. I only got a glimpse from him then he looked away again. I was bothering his concentration on the possible stranger in our midst but it turned out to be my strolling husband back from his walk.
