Wish it had been the F-4 Phantom II like 32nd TRS used there at the base in the late 1960s and early 70s.

This is so cool.... my husband was stationed here from 1971-1973. The F4's were there, he was a k-9 cop. We lived in St.Ives, Huntington, Hemmingford Abbotts, and another little village...Woodhurst, I think. Talk about taking me back!!

I was a civilian driver for the 10th transportation squadron at Alconbury from March 79 to October 85. I remember the F5 at the gate being made out of fiberglass by the Specialised Mouldings company in Huntingdon. Two of us drivers took the plane back to the base on two tractor trailers. The only part that was actually from an F5 was the cockpit. The Base commander wasn't happy about that. Hi to anyone who remembers me from those days (Peter Cooper). I moved to Massachusetts in 1988. Love it here in America.

Remembering Back (81-84), I Used To Walk By The F5 Tiger Everyday. I Lived In The Little Mobile Home Park Outside The Gate. It Was My First Duty Station. The Airmans Club And NCO Club Were Great.
