Cathedral International was founded in 1892 as the Second Baptist Church by a group of 35 African-Americans. The congregation met in several places over the years, including (from 1955 to 1990) the former Lutheran church on Broad Street. In 1992 they moved to the restored (and much altered) Majestic Theater, this building.
