Tee hee! I went through a "tree" period a few years ago; this photo is from 2002. Like many red alders it has multiple trunks, four in this case (only two show from this angle). I had hoped to make my way through Trees of Vancouver, by Straley, but that is a life's work, I think. I did collect the Kentucky Yellowood at The Crescent; Straley says that is the only (public) one in the city.
You are in a perfect position to collect some of the unusual specimens at the Stanley Park Pitch and Putt. The book should be available from the library. Happy hunting, who! :)
