My parents moved to a house just a spit from here in 1948 and I have passed this on numerous occasions; fishing nearby and on a bike as a child. Later many times on the way home from work, and if I am right it is on the opposite side to the towpath.

From your photo it has a plate saying Grid House, and so I am now fascinated to find out what a Grid House was!

All that I can find at the moment is that in 2007 it was listed by B’ham Council as a locally listed building (Grade C) hoping that the owners would preserve it as locally significant!

If I find out any more I will keep you posted.

Thanks for the link to the Grid House information.

I just about remember a horse-drawn barge carrying coal here; it was probably the last horse to be seen there! A beautiful animal.
