Thanks Hans-Jürgen,

This is a very typical Indonesian landscape: padi and a volcano backdrop.

It really is about as clear as it gets in the equatorial areas, for the lower layer of the atmosphere generally increases in depth as the day goes on and in an hour or so later the peaks are completely lost to view.

Warm regards,

Ian

Hi Hans-J,

My main role in life currently is peacebuilding - so you can call me a peacebuilder. I train others, assess conflict situations, imagine moral strategies to find a way out of conflict, and generally assist my trainees to implement their initiatives in whatever situation they are in. That is why you will see I travel in and out of Timor Leste, Indonesia including Bali, Tonga, Fiji, Solomon Islands and PNG, for example, and travelled to Germany, Ireland, US and Denmark as well, networking and learning.

I have been a geographer, ecologist and a pastor at different stages of my life, but really all my training and experience comes together in my present role as a peacebuilder.

Dear Jeff,

You probably liked seeing the padi as well, Jeff. Thanks for your kind response, my friend.

I am very pleased that you like it Craig, for with the atmospheric conditions at low altitude in Indonesia it is often difficult to get any really clear panoramic views. This was as good as it got. And yep, I am in Tonga - but staying here till December, I think. Email access is not so good here so my communications will be a bit more spasmodic. But I hope to use the camera quite bit as well, though there is a lot of energy to be given to our work here.

Enjoy your envy for it will inspire your dreams! And I have not doubt that wantoks could have a great time together. Lukim yu behain.

That's great Craig. Read up on 'Eua and Vava'u in the Lonely Planet Tonga, and then plan on coming while I am here: July - Nov '09, '10, '11. You will enjoy it all!
