What a wonderful place. And whether you intended it to be a "good" photo or not, it most certainly is!
Like falling off a log. Couldn't go wrong with the weather we had yesterday. This is also the best time of the year for the big pano as the sun is very high in the sky during the middle of the day - you dont get the sky whiting out partway along the image as you do when the sun is low. This is the first time Ive ever stopped at this viewpoint - I usually scoot straight to the lighthouse. They picked a good spot. When I realised you can see the top of the lighthouse and Montgo and the bay from a single vantage the big pano seemed the obvious shot. Its a bit of a mind bender. There's nowhere you can stand and get both the lighthouse and Montgo - two of our more prominent land marks - in a single shot. You cant go round the other side of the lighthouse as there's nowhere to stand with an elevated view - its almost right on the edge of a vertical 600' drop!
Actually, I meant to ask - how many frames have you stitched to produce this?
Shot with a Canon A650is at full wide angle, 7.44mm (approx equivalent to a 35mm lens on a 35mm film camera), handheld in 'Stitch Assist' mode, 10 frames at 4000x3000px, 80ISO, Daylight white balance, -0.3EV. Stitched in Photoshop CS3 using the Photomerge command set to 'Auto'. (go and make a cup of tea while PShop is chugging thru this!) Brightness/Contrast adjustment top layer added to adjust entire image. Saved. Full res composite then flattened and scaled down using normal bicubic interpolation and saved as a JPEG for upload.
