I sort of broke the rules with this composition, deliberately - centering the horizon. But using the overhead foliage to screen the sky I was able to record this quite isolated beach to which one family had retreated. On this southern coast of Ambon we are just over the hills from Ambon City which had been the centre of dreadful violence and arson for the few preceeding years. Slowly community trauma may be healed, feared foes reconciled. Such a sad contrast from the peacful setting pictured.

Is a good place for scuba dive

Yes Jacob,

I believe it certainly is. And it is a place where turtles are bred and released.

Kind regards,

Ian

Latuhalat is the real name, not Latuhalaf.... Never mind, it's o.k.

I like this place and was here before....

Thank you Maria, I have corrected the spelling error. It is a special and beautiful place. Ambon has suffered a great deal through recent and past history. Thanks for your response.

Hi Dos Anjos and Maria,

Thank you both for your appreciation of this beautiful place. Thanks for the hug. That's special!

Yes, I live in Australia, Sydney in fact, but soon will be relocating to Brisbane. I travel to Indonesia from time to time, assisting communities and leaders to build peace and guiding communities towards reconciliation that is sustainable. I love Indonesia and Indonesians are very special people.

Ian

Good morning Maria,

I like these little questions, Maria. Let's start with TK. Terima Kasih. I thought you were familiar with Indonesia or maybe even Indonesian, so I thanked you in Bahasa Indonesia.

And Dos Anjos is the person who commented on this photo after you: see the comment above.

And my childhood home is Imbil, so I know Bli Bli well. Have you been to Imbil?

And as for Bali, I am sure you will have enjoyed your 4 weeks very much. I have been in and out of Bali quite often for it is my entry point for Indonesia most times. If you use the "Indonesia" tag on the right of this page or on the front page, you'll see more of my images from the land of diversity.

Thanks for the chat. A hug, too.

Ian
