The Uxbridge Pit used electric lights and surplus power was used to light St. Anne’s Church; the first church in England to have electric lighting.

When we passed near to the Church in November 2005 there was much activity along side the Chasetown Football ground, and it was only apparent later, that on the Sunday Chasetown would play in the first round of the FA Cup against Oldham, swelling their regular attendance of 105 to 2000.
