I used to spend time there with my family in my teens, a relative had a 'humpty-hut' just North of the school

But Mike what is a humpty-hut? I ain't never heard of one of them.
Cheers my friend, I hope you're rolling along nicely!
'Humpty-hut' is a vernacular term for a hand built holiday home, usually made from bits, pieces and assortment of planks, boards etc. covered with tarpaulin, roofing felt and paint - lined out with plasterboard and wallpaper. The one we stayed in was Uncle Bobs, who used to be a miner at Workington or Whitehaven until he got silicosis.
..... and did you sleep in it? (Why not, it sounds better than camping)?
That was a good week, two families, 8 of us kids and 4 grown-ups best holiday I had as a whipper-snapper!
