An elegant hotel in the colonial style, Tramontano (hoteltramontano.com) was on the Grand Tour, and many great names have stayed here. Poet Torquato Tasso, Sorrento's favourite son, was born here, and de Curtis wrote Come Back to Sorrento on the terrace overlooking the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius. From here every evening you can see exceptional sunsets.
