That's an unusual way to do irrigation, that's very different from the italian way!

This dam Luca, is used to divert water into the irrigation channels that spread out across the valley. Because the lots of land are very small, and the valley is quite steep and relatively narrow, each farmers land is divided into small terraced plots. This then means that the distribution of water is very intricate and very carefully controlled.
