Our galleries are both showing the "sun" as the first photo on the front page dear Ian, and maybe it is the wavelength of light that links the 2 photos. By this time tomorrow your days will lengthen, whereas ours will shorten. Enjoy your solstice, and thank you for this beautiful equatorial sun with its pearly sunspots :)
Greetings from the northern hemisphere, Amelia

Dear Simona,
To see it as jewellery is perfect for this masterpiece of nature. Thanks my friend.

Here in Tonga for the winter solstice the temperature has been around 22C all day, with nice rain this evening. But in Bali where this image was received, it would have been 28C today. I have enjoyed missing out on the Sydney winter this year.. I think I might keep doing this!
Dear Amelia,
May your summer (it follows the solstice in Europe) be a most enjoyable time with plenty of public and family activity. And keep the wonderful photography happening.
Warmest greetings,
Ian (and Margaret - who is sitting beside me)

I like the softness in this photo, that makes the colour heavenly yellow! And the white 'pearls' are adding true magic to it. Another masterpiece of yours, dear Ian.
Best wishes, Mira

Dear Mira,
It truly is a joy to read your reaction to this image. I must admit that when one walks into a garden in the rain, one isn't so sure that the lighting or the conditions are ideal for photography, but in this case there were some successes, and I am so very pleased that you appreciate it. To have communicated concepts such as softness, heavenly and pearls through an image pleases me greatly.
Dear Michael,
To have an image that is admissible in your photographic genre makes me proud, but to be given a high distinction by the Father of Colourful Geometric Images [CGIs] is wonderful! Thanks Michael.
And Juan José,
As I have said before, you have taught me to look more closely and to crop strongly, so I owe much to you: Mira calls this a masterpiece, Michael gives it 100%, and my art teacher compliments me! Wow.
Warmest regards to you each,
Ian

Dear Eva,
Isn't it wonderful when we can go to the garden and find such delightful colours and forms that are surrounded by many pearls!! My warmest appreciation, Yan.

What is this Ian - please do tell...!
It is amazing, whatever flower it is the centre of (ouch, that terrible English...) Well done!!
At first glance at the thumbnail - I thought, "Oh my gosh, now he's photographing his breakfast - fried eggs!" but when I opened it there was this beautiful bejewelled flower-heart and I would really love to know which flower heart it is!
Happy days in Tonga Ian, to you and to Margaret (pleased to meet you, Margaret).
With very warm wishes, Hazel
Mira Paskota, on July 1, said:
Ah dear Hazel, you made me laugh with you original idea! :)) Even if it was Ian's breakfast, it still would be a great photo. But maybe knowledge that it's a flower is important to us, to feel free and enjoy in its beauty??!! :)
What do you think Ian, would it be less beautiful or enjoyable photo if it was your breakfast?
Best wishes, Mira

I love our conversations and our visual interactions, Hazel and Mira. As Bali is the centre of the spice islands and pepper is produced here, I should have peppered this before I ingested it, Hazel. But instead, or because of such lack on my part you have peppered the commentaries with humour.
Do you want the recipe? Glazed pineapple in a sweet cassava sculpted pastry with pearls of tapioca as garnishing.
"Atua Owa" is a Misima greeting (Misima Island language) (literally "my heart you") meaning I give you my heart. It is perhaps my favourite Pacific greeting. In this case, the heart I speak of here is the centre of a water lily, but the alternative meaning is applicable.
Atua Owa.
