Officially opened by Queen Elizabeth 2nd. on 22nd, May 2003, this is one of the largest temperate glasshouses to be built in the UK. in the last 100 yrs. The large timber curved beams are laminated Larch. DGJ. UK.

I like this building, it stands out and doesn't look horrible like a lot of modern city architecture. The heating / ventilation system is designed to maintain a constant temperature all year round, for example I read that it coped with the summer 2006 heatwave and the December 2010 cold snap equally well.
