In fact, the CN tower is the world tallest free standing structure. The top of the antenna has a height 553.33 m (1,815.4 ft), while the SkyPod (the highest point you can go) is 446.5 m up. Apparently, it's the highest public observation deck in the world - and this is the view.
Judging by your pic alone, this is definitely going on my list of places to visit before I die. That is, if I can ever manage to get out of the states.
Awesome work. As others have said, you've done a nice job capturing the colors and the vivid reflections. Well done.
Thanks very much Phoenix and WolfDreamer for commenting.
Phoenix, the CN Tower indeed really dwarfs all the other skyscrapers, and those are not very small either. Amazing building.
WolfDreamer, Toronto is certainly a place well worth visiting, it's an interesting and beautiful city. And I hope you do manage to get out of the States - as great a country as it is, there still is a whole world outside of it to explore and experience. As your name says, one can dream - but I hope you can turn it into reality.
Hi, jhk - My opinion only, but this WorldInPictures guy should be reported to Panoramio. He is a travel consultant who is attempting to build his own photo portfolio for advice to clients without paying for it. He may well be in violation of copyright, and if he wants to use your picture for commercial gain, he should be willing to negotiate a payment price for it.
Congratulations Justin. I also have been informed about the election about one my photos for WorldInPicturesThis gun-sight if you want, for my also is a recognition .Saludos. Rafa.
Greetings, JHK and to one and all from the UK (High Wycombe - pronounced "High Wiccum", sort of. :-)
I was born and raised in Toronto. Emigrated here to the SE UK in late May, 2006.
I've taken a few good photos of Toronto, The Toronto Islands and The Beach (where I lived for several years - probably my favourite Toronto neighbourhood, though I can say that my pics don't hold a patch (don't compare) on yours. Yours are just wonderful. I'm very curious to know what your "weapons of choice" (cameras, lenses, etc.) were/are, that is, if you care to share.
Your Toronto pics make me just a tad nostalgic, though I love it here for the most part. Can't say I really miss the Canadian winters (the grass remains green here year 'round), though I do miss the wide roads.
Where is home for you?
I was working very close to the CN Tower site in 1973 while it was being built and watched as the tower grew. It was very impressive.
Yes, for many years it WAS the planet's tallest free standing structure, but it has been supplanted by new and massively taller buildings in Dubai.
Hi Michael, thanks for sharing your stories of Toronto!
I can imagine that it must have been a pretty impressive sight watching the CN tower grow to its final height. I seem to remember that it was built quite fast, too.
Great to hear you like my Toronto photos; I've made all of these with just a regular compact camera (a Canon Powershot A700 to be precise). A couple of months after I returned from Canada (having been there five months), I bought a Pentax K100D Super SLR (just before I went to France for 4 months), and have been shooting with that ever since. Just about every photo of mine since November 2007 was made with my Pentax. (18-55 kit lens, Sigma 55-200 telephoto and a Pentax 50mm F2.0)
Home would be in Holland for me. (Although you won't find too many of Holland in my gallery...)
