Along the canyon floor trail to Spider Rock. Late afternoon with the the sun highlighting the autumnal colors in the cottonwoods. Our patient guide was Benjamin Anagal. Thanks Ben!

ArdenZ - Thanks. It is a composite of several images, carefully enhanced and balanced to bring out the shadows, the sky, and retain the line of yellow glow atop the cottonwoods. Quite a lot of work went into it.

In terms of visiting Canyon de Chelly, each time of year is a different experience. This was in fall. In winter, there is often several feet of snow on the canyon rim. Sometimes late winter there are floods along the canyon floor that make it impassable. In summer it is dry and hot. Choose your time wisely.
