We'll stay in 'heaven' for some time...;-) Hope this colorized picture is not against the rules! Other, alternative titles I had in mind were 'Golden Gate' or 'The Golden Foretaste of Heaven', but I thought this one was the most apt.

Excellent shot, Erik. And about the rules, well, you'll have to talk to the one who created them ;-).
Cheers, Christophe
Btw: did everyone else notice that our tags have disappeared?

Oops, sorry about the confusion guys. When I logged on as Photochain the tags seem to be okay. I still wonder though why I can't see them.

Hi Christophe,
Thanks for your comment on the picture! And, after Bill Evans, I'll have "conversations with myself"...;-) I think colorizing and hightening the contrast is allowed, as long as the 'original composition stays intact'.
About the lost tags: Panoramio has slowed down to a crawl lately, as you may have noticed, thanks to it's own success. One of the measures they took was only showing tags when you're logged in to your own account (= your own tags) and that's the reason why you don't see the Photochain tags when you're logged in as CVH. They also don't show EXIF data anymore. Take a look at one of the pictures to check this out!

Okay, thanks for the info, Erik. Its a relief...but only a bit. I know the panoramio guys have to deal with future growth to determine the sizing of their hardware and that kind of stuff. Really, it is not that difficult as this kind of growth has been going on for a long time and Panoramio's succes is not that unexpected anymore. I deal with this things all the time at work and me and our techies always succeeded in preventing the problem, not using it as an excuse to our users for 2 years. I just think that the excuse of 'victim of its own success' is not really honest anymore.

Ehrm..I think you're right about that. I wonder what the position of Google in Panoramio exactly is, because we never seem to notice their influence. It looks like nothing has changed last two years and functionality is still very much level 2007. I assume the Panoramio guys want to keep their project deliberately low profile, and they clearly don't want to become a second Flickr. See e.g. the discussions in the user forums about developing new functionality, like e.g. iPhoto upload plugins, sorting and album functionality and so on. That's OK, but you're right about the hardware story. Those problems should be solved anyhow.
Besides all this, it's good to keep in mind that Panoramio was developed as a means for showing interesting 'real world' geotagged content that would give people a chance to see how the world looks outside and NOT as a photo sharing platform, what it has become more and more last two years.
Cheers, Erik
