Unfortunately, there is no obvious way to travel by bicycle across central California. I used Google Earth to find this unmapped underpass, a key part of my route.
I was looking for a way to travel by bicycle from the Pleasnaton Bart station all the the way to Sonrora, CA in the Sierra Nevada foothills, directly east of San Francisco.
Basically, it allowed me to follow the freeway without having to go miles out of my way.
