Recently my dad told me of fishing this spot in 1948 when he was 19. He and a couple of mates arraived at about 7:30 AM and saw the tail fins of many salmon as they fed on the top of the reef. using hand lines they hauled about a dozen out, but at 8:00 they fish disappeared. Being dedicated fishermen they went to the dock that night and collected a sugar bag full of sardines. Then arriving at the salmon holes much earlier the next morning they hauled in about 160 ten pound salmon, again using only hand lines. the fish were sold to the cannery, but they still had the orriginal dozen to eat.
