Does anybody know what kind of trees are these? Why the branches and leaves are so small in comparison to the trunk? It look like they're upside down.

Hello, erfusa,
These are Baobab trees http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baobab. The photo was taken in early September, which is late winter in Botswana. This is why there are no leaves and fruit on the trees. They will grow for several thousand years.
Brgds,
Patrick
