It is interesting to compare this picture by my father with the one Dan Gutierrez took 68 years later from nearly the same spot.

In 1941, however, two-lane Hwy 40 passing right behind this parking lot was the main road from Reno to San Francisco.

The dark line crossing the mountains toward Donner Pass are the snow sheds of the Union Pacific Railroad.

WomanX (one of my father's previous wives) seems to be a photographer too.

This picture was taken sometime around 24 May 1941, and WomanX's name was Rose Dini Farrar.
