Saw your photo of "Jessica" @ North Lake, just north of Monument Park, CO. I've hit a dead-end looking for the location of some spectacular geological formations. Can you tell me if there are some "monument" shaped columns of sandstone in or near Monument Park, with basalt (lava flow) caps, standing from 6 to 25 feet high? (The problem in an onLine search is that there is also a Colorado Monuments State Park, apparently near CO Springs. I'm not sure where these photos were taken, but want to take my own.)

Thanks for any/all feedback! Larry T. Green

Monument Lake had a column in the middle of the lake that collapsed a decade or so ago. I’m no geologist, but there are "dykes" radiating from the Spanish peaks that are impressive. Best seen from the highway south of La Veta. The area you referenced in CO SP is likely Garden of the Gods.
