Following the death of its founder, David Willson, in 1866, the Children of Peace diminished, and their last service was held here in 1889. Eventually the derelict building was restored and is now open as a historic site.

Hi Marilyn
I am happy to be the first to comment on these photographs. A set of beautiful shots with a lovely clear and concise commentary.I must admit I am fascinated by the circular outhouse. All in all a lovely selection

What a unique and fascinating temple. It is such a shame that it is no longer used as a church.
Thank you for posting these wonderful photographs and interesting history as well. I'm so glad that you were able to visit this wonderful place and share it with us.
Wishing you a peaceful evening,
Mary Alice

Mary Alice, I'm glad you enjoyed our visit to the lovely Sharon temple. It's a beautiful place, I think a bit of history adds to the experience. It's so nice to share that with others like you, who feel the same way! Thank you for your comment.
And Russ, since I was also posting a more traditional view, I could have left this one out, but I, too, liked the feeling of "secrecy." I'm so glad you did, too.
Best wishes, Marilyn
