The church is called San Agustin Church, in honor of the patron saint of Iba.
It was called Iba Roman Catholic Church during the american era ,In this church, On August 28, 1901, American Civil Governor William Howard Taft held the historic session of the second Philippine Commission that established the Province of Zambales under the American rule. It is now called St Augustine Cathedral. (http://www.world66.com/asia/southeastasia/philippines/iba/history)
Not Iba, Church it should be San, Agustine Church Iba, Zambales.....
San Agustin Church (cathedral) in filipino and Saint Agustine church (cathedral) in english. which everway is correct. it is located in Iba, Zambales that's why it is also called the Iba catholic church...thought there are two big catholic churches in iba, saint agustine is the one referred to as iba catholic church and the other one as the saint joseph catholic church.
Thank you for your inputs about the correct names of the church in Iba
The Church Bell Tower is not part of the original structure but was added after the japanese war (not sure about the date).
Before the Japanese war my uncle Ruben who was then a boy scout was ringing the church bell at the topmost facade of the church, suddenly his neckerchief caught the bell and fell down. He survive the fall with only a minor wound in his face.
Does anyone know how to contact anyone at the Catholic Church in the province of Zambales??? PLEASE HELP
