Sri Lanka is a small island situated in the Indian Ocean. From the flat coppery silver sand beaches in the west to the mountainous centre of 2500 meters high is reached within six hours by road. Along the 200 km road stretch from Colombo, the capital city to Nuweraeliya, the central city, few different climates are felt ranging from hot high humid to cold fresh winter. The country is on the effort of environmental conservation and several thousands of acres are declared as protected forests and wildlife sanctuaries. The image is from a model ecological zone situated less than a distance of 100km from Colombo along the road to the ancient city of Anuradhapura.
