This shows the so called "Thawon Watthu Building" at Sanam Luang. It was originally used as a makeshift building for the cremation of crownprince Chaofah Maha Wachirunnahit. Later, in 1916, King Vajiravudh (Rama VI.) opened here the Bangkok City Library ("Hor Phra Samut Vajiravudh") which later became the National Library (it moved to its present building in 1962). In 1977 it was listed as a „National Antique Building“ by the Thai Fine Arts Department.
