I am trying to imagine, if I were still a little girl, how completely overwhelmed and overjoyed I would be to come out and see this waiting for me on my birthday! It is positively Dreamy!

I'm sure some lucky little girl was blown away!

It is delightful in every way!

Best regards,

Mary Alice

Mary, just to let you know about the recipient of this very special Castle...my youngest grandaughter, Elizabeth...she was 4 this year. I almost posted the photo of her receiving this cake, but her little face was in a shadow that we didn't realize was there...will show her later maybe. Look closely and you'll see sparkle on each of those "tips" on all those little "roofs". This is the one, you might remember I mentioned back in June when I was baking it, that it is lavender and purple inside... Thanks so very much for such great praise on this "labor of Love" I do here. You have made my night with your sweet comments.

OH Goodness, Nick and Steve, how great to look here and see you two droppin in on me! (:>) How lucky can a girl get! Thanks so very much for your kind remarks on this "castle" cake. The little princess this belonged to was my youngest grandaughter!!! I love that cool remark, that it really "cuts the mustard"!! How funny, Nick...I grew up hearing that little phrase and it always meant a nice compliment. Steve, your "fairytale castle" comment meant so much, Elizabeth thought of it that way too!! Thanks guys, you have made my Saturday pleasant by dropping in... Sarah

Hello Sarah! This is a fantastic cake!! How did you make it? Our daughter is celebrating her 5th birthday soon and this is a real inspiration. She has decided to have a princess theme and this cake would be just perfect :D

Greetings from Denmark, Magnus

Sarah O on January 12, 2010

Hello to you Magnus, how nice to see you stopping in on this Princess cake. There is a kit you purchase that makes this cake what it is. See those towers and entrance door and gable over the door, all that is purchased in a kit, then of course I decorate them as you see with the lavender icing....But the cake is simply a 2 tier cake, you see it there nestled down in those towers ... Then you see 3 of the towers are inserted into the top to make the cake even more "castle" looking...It is intimidating to look at, but I found it fairly easy to put together, but I have done cakes for quite a long time, Magnus.....Good luck...it is a fun thing to do. It would be the perfect cake for you 5 year old. This was for my 4 year old G/daughter.

Greetings to you too from the USA/ Sarah

Thank you Sarah for your answer! I will give it a try :) Have'nt seen a kit like the one you mention so I will have to invent something.....

My best to you, Magnus

Sarah O on January 12, 2010

Good morning Magnus, glad you got the comment and good to see you're going to "go for it" and try this cake....You are in Denmark, Magnus, do you have a place that sells Wilton Cake supplies? Or possibly over here we could find this at a Wal Mart (ya know we get everything there:)) Sure wish I were near you and you could borrow the kit, wouldn't that be neat? Be sure and take a shot of it and post it so I can take a look. OH, the cake was a flavor that little Elizabeth loves, a Strawberry pound cake.

God luck, I'am pulling for ya!! :)

Warm wishes/ Sarah

Thank you for wanting to help me out Sarah - very sweet of you :)) Unfortunately we do not have anything like that here. I live on a very small island and we only have one local grocery store. I will have to improvice with your beautiful cake in mind :) If I succeed I will take a picture....

Yours, Magnus

Great, Magnus OK I can't help but ask, your name is an unfamilliar one, you are a lady aren't you?? It helps to know, so many times I think I am talking to a woman and it turns out differently :))) I'am so glad you are going to try with this cake. Ya know what, bake the cake, and find some white card-board and roll up some round towers, tape them together, put some icing on top or even a small cup cake, ice that, and just take off and do your own thing, Magnus. :)) it would be great I'am sure. Wishing you good luck...you;ll do great :))

Regards from the US/ Sarah

mabz65 on January 13, 2010

This is very funny! No, I'm not a lady :D and thank's for asking. It is always better to ask - it usually helps a lot! Magnus is a very common and old name here in the north of Scandinavia. The origin is Latin and it means The Great. In Sweden there was a King named Magnus Ladulås (Magnus III), king of Sweden 1275-1290. The oldest proof in Sweden of the names existance was found in runes from around 1100 - written on the walls in Bringetofta Church.

Thank you Sarah for all your help! You are very kind :) You have many good ideas - maybe your'e working in a bakery? I can not thank you enough!

Many thanks and warm wishes from Denmark/ Magnus - The Great ;))

Sarah O on January 13, 2010

Magnus No I do not do the cakes you see in this gallery at a bakery...in my home!! Have for quite some time and enjoy it very much, especially for the 3 g/daughters and families.

Thanks for the info on " The Great", I was not at all familliar if the name was a male or female name. The history on the name is interesting.

Sarah O on April 6, 2014

thank you *Steve, this one was such fun to do. each cake Ive done for the G/girls is in an album IVe set up for all 3 of them, of JUST their birthday cakes, nothing else in the album, just the cakes ive made each year for them, and one of me on each year's cake as I present it to them...oftentimes when here, they will go get "their" album of cakes and look through and we have a laugh and lots of fun looking at each cake, how they are growing up "with each cake" Such wonderful memories for every year!! best wishes, Sarahx

Steve. D on April 6, 2014
