Thanks Tamás for your visit and affirmation. This is one pic that I nearly didn't put up. I thought it lacked interest. Yes I was pleased with the composition. So I am glad you appreciate it. This is a part of Europe that I have recently discovered because some of my ancestors came from near here 220 years ago. I have added you as a photographer to my list of favourites (yellow star) so I have seen your new photos and I like them, too. Greetings from Sydney. Ian

Is the crop rapeseed, Ian? It's so beautiful when it's in bloom. I've posted a shot of rapeseed from Kangaroo Island, but I couldn't get such clean, satisfying composition as this. Marilyn

Happy New Year, Marilyn, Jacques and Tamas and may it be fruitful, fulfilling and joyous.
Marilyn, the crop is rapeseed but in Australia, it is called canola (a Canadian alternative name) so that it is more attractive in the market especially when sold as canola oil for domestic consumption.
Jacques, I have visited Schwerin, and love the city. I have a distant relative in Bad Doberan and our ancestral homeplace is at Bluecher bei Boizenburg. There certainly is plenty of rapeseed grown in that area. I have enjoyed your collection, too and I am sure we will enjoy exchanging posted images throughout 2008, too.
Grace and peace to you all.

I've left a Wikipedia link in a reply to a question about my photo. From that article I learned that a variety became "canola" in 1978. The first I'd seen it was a year earlier, in Sweden. Beautiful crop!
Ian, part of the magic of your photo is shape of the sky outlined by the tree branch, then repeated in the shape of the water! Quite wonderful!

Ian, a very natural associated image. The forest, agriculture and the water that characterizes northern Germany. That you have very nice view.
East Germany at the same time.
Nice greetings from Germany,

Whether I was in Schleswig-Holstein or in Mecklenburg the rapeseed painted the landscape for us. Like a magic carpet ride! Thanks Ge Ko for your visit and sharing.

I am grateful for your appreciation, Arthur. I saw the possibility as I drove slowly by, and went back for a walk, and am glad I did.
