Here the Tevis Trail and USFS Road #6 ascends a gentle slope within the Deer Creek drainage. The graveled road is well-maintained, clear, with no ruts. This is roughly Tevis Milepost 0.5. During the Tevis Cup, riders will pass here about 5:17 AM in the pre-dawn darkness with lots of volcanic dust, congestion, and confusion. Just go with the flow here, remain in small groups among the herd of 200+ endurance horses, and be safe. You have more than 99 miles to go, so be circumspect and safe.
